We Rely on Our Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to the mission of Honey Lake Hospice. As a patient volunteer,
you will work with a team of others to care for the emotional, spiritual, physical, and practical needs of the patient and caregiver. Each volunteer is provided with information and in-depth training in end-of-life issues that affect patients and their families.
A volunteer training class is offered once a year. Patient volunteers are not a substitute for physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers, but can provide valuable support in a variety of ways:
. Caregiver education for personal home care
. Household chores, errands
. Companionship in person or by phone
. Respite care
. Patient advocate, resource adviser
. Patient and family support during the patient's end-of-life and death
. One year of bereavement support to the family, as desired

Community events are held to raise awareness and fund our activities and services. Our two major fund-raising events are the annual Afternoon Tea, held every spring, and the "Light up a Life" Tree Lighting Ceremony held annually the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
